Project of the Year 2012: Learnership Programme
The Learnership Programme is a brand-new Cape Mental Health project that offers persons with mental disabilities equal opportunities for skills development and improved ‘employability’. We currently administer 100 Learnerships (Hygiene and Cleaning Level 1 and Business Administration Level 2) for persons with mental disability funded by Health & Welfare SETA.
The Learnership Programme was awarded the Project of the Year 2012 Award thanks to the innovative way it enables and empowers learners to benefit from structured learning and practical workplace opportunities.
We acknowledge the high level of dedication and passion of staff members Shamila Ownhouse, Kathy Plessie and Malieka Dreyer, who provide extensive job coaching to the learners and ongoing support to their families, the external training providers and employers to ensure the successful roll-out of the Learnerships.
