Corporate in the limelight

Each quarter, Cape Mental Health (CMH) would like to highlight the efforts of a corporate entity that has shown exceptional support of our projects and /or programmes. This quarter we chose Lewis Stores as their generous and loyal support has supported CMH in various ways: donations in kind, funds for operational costs, and sponsorship. Both Kimber House and Fountain House have been beneficiaries of Lewis Stores furniture and appliances for many years. In October, Kimber House received a new box freezer, as well as a new lounge suite.

Lewis Stores sponsored the prizes for a Grade R children’s colouring-in competition, for the Cape Town International Kite Festival held on 31 October. The children coloured-in a kite picture which gave them free entry to the kite festival and six winners between 4 and 6 years of age were chosen as prize-winners. In addition to these two gracious opportunities, Lewis Stores donate 150 shoeboxes filled with gifts in December for the children with severe and profound intellectual disability at our Heideveld and Khayelitsha-based Special Education and Care Centres.

As many of the families of the children who attend our centres cannot afford to buy festive season gifts, CMH gives each child a shoebox filled with practical items for the Festive Season. We thank Lewis Stores for its generous support of our mental health care services and for the way in which it seeks to uplift some of the most vulnerable members of our communities.
